Sound Production and Stage Lighting

HATS uses an 18 channel lighting rig controlled by a memory lighting desk (ZERO 88 Alcora) set up to 99 lighting scenes.  This is a 24 channel, 2 preset deck and memory.

The desk is linked to three six-channel dimmer packs with a patched system allowing control of stage lanterns mounted in any of 36 different locations both in front of and behind the stage.

A variety of lanterns ranging from 500W to 1kW includes:

These are suspended from internally wired bars at the Front of House and from bars above the stage.

Merchistoun Hall is equipped with a four-speaker sound system to provide sound reinforcement and playback of recorded sounds.

Playback is achieved by using a Sony Mini-Disk deck fed via a Peavey sound mixing desk.

Sound effects are derived from a variety of sources including CD, downloaded web files and live recordings. On stage, microphones allow those in the dressing room to hear the peformance to ensure that cues are not missed.

The Hall is also fitted with an induction loop system for the hard of hearing.
